This year the incentive program at the studio has been Musikopoly ( read all about it here). All the students love coming to piano lesson , getting money, and see what they can buy. However on top of that program, I’ve started a small substitute program as well. It’s called Piano Tickets. Every time a student comes for lessons there different ways for them to earn tickets. I break down the number of tickets they earn like this:
1 Ticket per day of practice
10 having a Perfect Lesson
20 for memorizing and recording a piece
5 for a perfect week of practice
2 for being on time with all of the materials
15 for completing a workbook packet
10 for completing a level of music or rhythm
Then once a month I draw two names from the bucket. Usually the Student as the month gets to pick it. Whoever is picked gets a candy from the bucket and $25 in music money. So far everyone has loved and and best of all its pretty cheap for Me. I found the The tickets cheap here. I have a poster with all the information that I hang up in the studio and give to each the student. You can downland the poster at this link brayden-walters-piano-studio-practice-tickets-poster and the wrapper I put on the bucket that keeps the tickets at this link Practice tickets. The last thing I do with the tickets is at the Recital. After everyone has played I do a drawing and pick a few students. Those lucky kids get $100 in music money and a 10 gift card to Wal-mart, or target, i tunes… And everybody likes that! It makes the recitals a lot of fun and gives the students something to look forward to.
